What is the Australia Awards Scholarship?
The Australia Awards are long-term scholarships administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). They provide opportunities for people from developing countries, such as Pakistan, to undertake full-time postgraduate study at participating Australian universities.
Which Programs & Universities are Available?
For the current Pakistan intake, the scholarship is offered exclusively for Master’s Degree programs.
You can apply to almost any Participating Australian Institution, which includes over 40 top-ranked universities and tertiary institutions, such as:
- The Australian National University (ANU)
- The University of Melbourne
- The University of Sydney
- University of Queensland
- Monash University
- ...and many more.
Scholarship Benefits (Fully Funded)
This scholarship is famous for its generous coverage. Selected scholars receive:
- Full Tuition Fees: 100% of your university fees are paid.
- Return Airfare: Economy class tickets to and from Australia.
- Establishment Allowance: A lump sum payment for accommodation, text books, and study materials.
- Living Allowance (CLE): A fortnightly contribution to your basic living expenses.
- Health Insurance: Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of the award.
- Academic Support: Supplementary academic support if required.
Eligibility Criteria for Pakistan
- Be a Pakistani citizen currently residing in Pakistan.
- Not be more than 45 years of age at the time of application.
- Have completed 16 years of education.
- Have at least 5 years of relevant work experience in Pakistan.
- Not hold another Australian scholarship.
- Commit to return to Pakistan for atleast two years after completing the degree.
Priority Fields of Study
The Australian Government selects candidates whose field of study aligns with Pakistan’s development goals. You should apply for a Master’s in one of these priority areas:
- Climate Change: (Environmental science, disaster risk reduction, renewable energy).
- Empowerment of Women and Girls: (Gender studies, social policy).
- Agriculture & Water Security: (Food security, irrigation, water management).
- Infrastructure: (Urban planning, transport, engineering).
- Inclusive Economic Development: (Economics, trade, business management).
Note: Women, people with disabilities, and individuals from rural areas are highly encouraged to apply.
